Position Summary
The Medical Assistant Training Specialist positions are based at all clinical sites throughout Nevada Health Centers on a rotating basis based on needs of the clinic. These trainers will assist the training of all medical assistants across our state within the company. The Medical Assistant training specialist will implement and provide training, continuing education, and oversee compliance to standards of practice (competencies) to: new medical assistants that are hired in, extern Medical assistants from MA schools in which we are contracted with, and for the MA-in-Training program that we have for internal employees in the rural areas. The Medical Assistant training specialist will facilitate and train on the telehealth program and be super users of EPIC Electronic Medical Record.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides oversight of the medical assistants’ clinical skills and competencies and can assess and identify training opportunities in support of the learning needs of all medical assistants
- Opportunities to develop and deliver effective medical assistant education on the topics of promoting quality, safety, population health, and patient centered medical home
- Direct oversight of clinical skills required for the employees enrolled in the on-line medical assistant training program
- Evaluates the performance of medical assistants performing daily skills, with an emphasis on observing the required quality measures are determined through patient intake and or chart review, and proper documentation has been established in the electronic medical record
- Evaluate and track the annual skills and competencies for all medical assistants new or existing
- Participates in direct patient care
- Provides assistance to and guidance to all new medical assistants joining the NVHC team
- Provides training for telemedicine equipment set-up and telemedicine visits.
- Provider oversight of the medical assistant externships and will be responsible helping the students complete the required hours and check list of competencies/skills
- Provides ongoing electronic medical record training after the initial training from IT to ensure competency for all medical assistants and students
- Provides performance evaluation recommendations to the Director of operations and Director of clinical services as needed
- Evaluates and trains regarding lab duties, and tracks the lab certification for each medical assistant
- Conducts respiratory FIT testing to clinical staff
- Act as the liaison for all internal lab surveys and inspections
- Conduct monthly lab audits for all clinic sites
- Conduct documentation audits in the electronic health record system and other related systems
- Train medical assistant staff in all CLIA Waived Test
- Performs other duties as assigned
Customer Service
- Knowledge of AIDET and practices it routinely and will oversee the use of AIDET with the medical assistants
Quality Management
- Knowledge of current quality measures and ensures the proper documentation among all medical assistants
Required Qualifications
- Current national NHA certification as a medical assistant
- Minimum two years of MA experience required
- Desire to train medical assistants in clinical best practices
- Current CPR certification
- Demonstrated proficiency with Epic electronic health record system required
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess good communication skills
- Knowledge of the essential functions of clinical practices: front and back-office policies and procedures
- Knowledge of in-office lab procedures
- Practice and knowledge of pediatric and adult phlebotomy skills
- Proficient in pediatric and adult medication and immunization administration.
- Ability to interact effectively and positively with other staff members
- Be detail oriented and good at multi-tasking
- Ability to problem solve, deescalate/resolve conflict, perform service recovery
- Effectively use the AIDET tool set
- Effective leadership skills. This requires leading by example by showing medical assistants’ good traits to emulate
- Demonstrate ability to produce high quality work in a consistent manner
