Nevada City School of the Arts (NCSOTA), a TK-8 charter school in operation since 1994, is seeking a dynamic, culturally aware, stimulating, and highly qualified Education Specialist to join our team. JOB TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER/EDUCATION SPECIALIST (MILD/MODERATE) SCHEDULE: 2026-27 School Year – Full-time WAGE: $66,960 - $94,595 per year, depending on experience This position works with pupils whose needs have been identified in, or are being considered for, an individualized education program (IEP). This position is supervised by the Program Specialist and works directly with school site administrators, general education teachers, and other student services team members. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: The SPED Teacher/Education Specialist demonstrates knowledge of special education laws, inclusive instructional practices, and evidence-based strategies for supporting students with mild to moderate disabilities. The educator applies principles of differentiated instruction, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior supports to promote student access, engagement, and growth. This role requires strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, general and special education staff, and multidisciplinary teams; and proficiency in special education data systems and instructional technology.
