POSITION # 1 :
Deer Creek Elementary School : Monday - Friday 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm

POSITION # 2:
Seven Hills Middle School : Monday - Friday 11:45 am - 1:15 pm

Both Postions are 182 days a year, Starts August 17, 2026

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the general supervision of the Principal (or designee), Noon Duty Support is responsible for the supervision of students during the designated lunch period.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Adhere to all applicable laws, rules and regulations of the state, county, and the Nevada City School
  • District.
  • Enforces school rules concerning the health, safety and proper behavior of students.
  • Assists students in the cafeteria as assigned.
  • Uses good judgment in handling behavioral problems, and refer as necessary.
  • Handing out school purchased lunches and/or milk.
  • Handles food in accordance with state, federal and district guidelines.
  • Supervises activity on playgrounds, fields, hallways, bathrooms and in the cafeteria and classrooms, including maintaining order which may include settling arguments, establishing rules, deciding whether or not to send a child to the office or nurse.
  • Observes, intervenes and reports any unsafe or suspicious behavior -- including making sure that parents and other volunteers have signed in at the office and are wearing visitor stickers.
  • Follows district and site emergency plan and handles emergency situations.
  • Ability to organize and supervise activities for one or more classes in a classroom during bad weather.
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions if unforeseen changes to the normal routine occur.
  • Observes behavior and activity of students by walking around assigned duty area and interacting with students.
  • Utilize Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) to: to establish relationships with students, to encourage appropriate behavior in students, to recognize positive behavior in students and acknowledge such behavior

EMPLOYMENT STANDARD:
Knowledge of:

  • General concepts of child growth and development and child behavior characteristics.
  • Student behavior management techniques and strategies.
  • Learning problems of children with special needs.
  • Correct English usage, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
  • Simple record keeping and record management.
  • Campus safety and playground rules.

Ability to:

  • Work collaboratively and professionally with co-workers, families and students.
  • Demonstrates patience, enthusiasm, and compassion with students.
  • Perform possible emergency first aid care and summon assistance.
  • Learn and utilize basic methods and procedures to be followed in attending and assisting special needs students in educational/instructional settings with a warm and caring manner.
  • Perform light clerical work.
  • Use confidential information with discretion.
  • Learn to use current technology as required to complete tasks as assigned.
  • Understand and carryout oral and written instructions in an independent manner.
  • Enjoy being around children in a noisy, hectic environment.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates degree or 48 units preferred.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must successfully pass live scan background check and T.B. clearance.
  • Must pass a proficiency test administered by the district.
  • Position requires moderate physical exertion associated with the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, crawl, or climb.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds (lbs.) maximum or carry any object weighting 25 lbs.
  • Complete required mandated trainings.
  • Must successfully pass CPR and First Aid Training

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour
