Job Summary
Experienced field technician responsible for independently performing installation, termination, and testing of low voltage systems. This role requires working knowledge of structured cabling standards and the ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision while supporting project schedules and quality expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Install, terminate, label, and test copper and fiber cabling systems in accordance with project specifications and standards.
· Read and interpret drawings, layouts, and basic scopes of work.
· Perform cable routing, pathway installation, and equipment mounting.
· Conduct testing and assist with documentation of test results.
· Identify installation issues and communicate them to Lead Technicians or Foremen.
· Ensure work meets quality and safety standards before inspection.
· Assist with training and mentoring entry level technicians.
· Maintain tools, materials, and job site organization.
· Assist in tracking and managing materials assigned to the work area and report shortages or discrepancies to field leadership.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· 1–3 years of low voltage or structured cabling experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
· Solid understanding of structured cabling systems (copper and fiber).
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Ability to read drawings and follow project documentation.
· Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
CERTIFICATIONS (PREFERRED)
· OSHA 10
· BICSI (Installer 1)
· Basic CCTV and Access Control Training
· Lift Equipment Certification (scissor lift, boom lift, or aerial lift).
· Fall Protection Training.
· Confined Space Entry Training.
· Manufacturer or vendor-specific certifications related to low voltage or data center systems (Panduit, Legrand, or similar).
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Field-based role with daily presence on active construction and data center sites.
· Exposure to ladders, lifts, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions.
· Travel to project sites as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Sitting – occasionally, including during brief periods of documentation or equipment setup.
· Standing for extended periods of time on active job sites.
· Walking frequently throughout construction sites and data center environments.
· Climbing and/or balancing, including the use of ladders, lifts, and elevated work platforms.
· Ability to climb ladders and work at heights, including above-ground structures and overhead pathways.
· Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching as required to perform installation activities.
· Ability to bend, squat, crawl, reach overhead, and maneuver in confined or tight spaces.
· Repetitive hand and wrist motion associated with tool use and occasional use of mobile devices or testing equipment.
· Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
· Reading and interpreting drawings, labels, and documentation.
· Talking and hearing to communicate effectively in noisy job site environments.
· Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, temperature variations, dust, and moving traffic on occasion.
Pay: $21.00 - $30.29 per hour
