Position Summary
The Workers’ Compensation Manager oversees and coordinates all aspects of the practice’s workers’ compensation operations across 13 offices and 17 providers. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant handling of workers’ compensation claims, documentation, and communication. The Manager provides leadership to a small team of two, fosters strong relationships with providers, insurance carriers, adjusters, and nurse case managers, and ensures the highest level of service to both patients and internal departments.
You will serve as a key liaison between employees, providers, patients, insurance carriers, and internal departments to ensure accurate coordination of care and documentation for workers' compensation cases. This role requires a strong understanding of state guidelines, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. You will work very closely with our doctors on a regular in-person basis.
The Worker’s Compensation Manager will work through procedures and standards to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and Compliance within the doctor’s offices, scheduling all new work comp patients for the company and obtaining authorizations for all of their studies and procedures performed by NASA. Will be responsible to make sure work is done and completed in a timely manner. Must meet and maintain all job responsibilities daily. Must be compliant with all the policy and procedures as they pertain to work comp. Must be able to train and cross-train individuals. Must support Doctors, staff and office managers.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred.
· Minimum 3 years of experience in workers’ compensation claims management, preferably within a medical, insurance, or occupational health setting.
· Leadership or supervisory experience required; ability to manage a small, high-performing team.
· Prior experience as a workers’ compensation claims adjuster or case manager strongly preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
· In-depth knowledge of Florida Workers’ Compensation laws and procedures.
· Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
· Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with physicians, adjusters, nurse case managers, and insurance representatives.
· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
· Proficiency with EMR systems, claim tracking platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Essential Functions:
· Handle inbound phone calls from patients and insurance adjusters to register new cases and schedule appointments.
· Review workers' compensation forms and patient accounts for accuracy and completeness.
· Send required documentation and physician orders to insurance carriers and adjusters following each patient visit.
· Faxing and Scanning of all documents
· Collaborate and communicate with claims adjusters and case managers to confirm work status, Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI), and treatment plans.
· Establish relationships with adjustors, companies and Nurse Managers as well as meets with them as needed.
· Negotiates procedures at NASA
· Interpret and communicate state-specific workers' compensation regulations both verbally and in writing.
· Maintain organized and up-to-date patient records and accounts.
· Respond to internal inquiries related to workers’ compensation procedures and cases.
· Secure authorizations for medical services as needed.
Dispense in-house medications in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.
Additional Responsibilities: Assumes other duties as assigned by the CEO, or Partners.
