Job Type: Full-Time Radiology Transcriptionist and Speech Recognition Editor
Specialty: Radiology with CT and MRI Sub-specialty
Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm
Location: Tampa, Florida
Experience: 5 years with a minimum of the last 3 years in radiology transcription, speech recognition editing and proofing. PowerScribe 360 and Dictaphone experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Radiology Report Transcription and Editing: Utilize knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and experience with keyboarding and foot pedals to produce high accuracy radiology reports and within turnaround time expectations.
- Discrepancy Processing: Identify and correct dictation discrepancies, inconsistencies and errors including how they relate to ordered examinations.
- Workflow Management: Monitor transcription applications and manage multiple worklists; troubleshoot system problems and correct or escalate to appropriate staff.
- Staying Current: Stay abreast of new medical terminology, procedures, medications and other medical language, using on-line and hard-copy resources.

- Accuracy: Transcribes edits and reviews radiology reports prepared by speech recognition software and ensures they are accurate, consistent in style, and meet with all coding and billing standards.
- Analytical Thinking: Discriminates between important and unimportant details, recognizes inconsistencies between facts and/or data, and is able to determine how to proceed.
- Attention to Detail: Acknowledges the implications and importance of the smallest details in medical reports.
- Knowledge of Grammar and Radiology Medical Terminology: Expert usage of the English language, including: grammar, spelling, and medical terminology related to radiology.
- Team-oriented: Cooperative, collaborative and professional at all times with colleagues, radiologists and administration.
- Outcome-oriented: Results focused with a strong emphasis on accuracy and efficiency.
Education:
- Prefer a certificate or training in medical transcription from an accredited medical transcription program or college.
- High school graduate or GED
