Duties
- Greet patients warmly at the front desk and manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette
- Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to ensure accurate billing processes
- Collect payments and perform medical collection activities while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Prepare and review documentation including care plans, medical records, and billing codes such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10
- Maintain organized filing systems for patient records while ensuring confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Support clinic operations by coordinating intake procedures, updating patient information, and managing office supplies
- Perform clerical duties such as data entry, typing reports, and maintaining office files
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations through documentation review and adherence to privacy policies
- Assist in appointment reminders, follow-up calls, and patient inquiries to enhance patient satisfaction
Experience
- Proven experience working in a busy medical office environment with a focus on administrative support
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or
- Experience with insurance verification
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding standards, HIPAA regulations, and health information management practices
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and multi-line phone system operation
- Previous clinic or hospital experience is advantageous
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining accuracy in documentation review and data entry
