Software Engineer - Python, Backend & Data Engineering
This position involves supporting advanced cybersecurity data processing systems and working with the team to design, develop, and deploy backend software solutions for defense and intelligence operational requirements. You will collaborate with a diverse team of security analysts and operators to ensure your solutions are effective in real-world cyber operations scenarios.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain Python-based backend services, APIs, and data pipelines for mission-critical cybersecurity applications. Design scalable microservices architectures for high-throughput security data processing. Build ETL workflows and data transformation systems for cyber threat intelligence. Optimize database performance and query efficiency for security analytics. Collaborate with analysts to translate cyber operational requirements into working software solutions.
Required Skills
Extensive experience developing in Python for backend services and data engineering. Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and query optimization. Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs and microservices. Experience with data processing frameworks (Pandas, Spark, or Airflow). Development experience in a Linux environment. Experience with the Atlassian Suite (Jira/Confluence).
Nice to Have
Experience with distributed systems and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ). Knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes orchestration. Experience with ElasticSearch or other search/analytics platforms. Familiarity with machine learning pipelines and MLOps. Experience deploying data systems in secure/air-gapped environments. Experience processing security logs, network traffic, or threat intelligence data.
