Job Summary:

The Product Owner is a key liaison between market needs and delivery of a solution. In this role, the Product Owner owns the backlog end-to-end—writing clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria, collaborating with engineering and UX, and leveraging AI tools to work efficiently at scale.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring the team always works on the highest-impact work
  • Author well-structured epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria; leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatPRD, Rovo) to produce and refine backlog artifacts efficiently and at scale
  • Lead the planning of product release plans and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities
  • Confirm that executed stories comply with Neumo’s Definition of Done.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support, to ensure successful product releases.
  • Engage with customers and stakeholders to gather and validate requirements and feedback.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to inform product strategy and provide updates on product progress and milestones.
  • Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to inform product decisions and strategy.
  • Ensure product aligns with user needs, business goals, and technical capabilities.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Monitor and report on product performance, quality, and usage metrics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • 2 years' experience working in Agile methodology and a deep understanding of various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle; preferably in Product Owner or Business Analyst role.
  • Public sector or public sector software experience desired, tax administration, short-term rental or revenue management solutions a plus.
  • Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, and Figma; experience with AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, ChatPRD, Copilot) to accelerate story creation and analysis;
  • Understanding and experience with technical solutions and components (APIs, Middleware, Services, SQL)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to create epics, user stories, user journeys, wireframes, and basic diagrams to convey ideas
  • Strong written communication skills and client presence; able to translate effectively between technical and business audiences
  • Able to juggle multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to persuade, encourage and motivate others to beat deadlines

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual work station, using telephone and computer

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine
  • This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office
  • The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
