Neumann University is currently seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Director of Student Health & Counseling Services. This position reports directly to the Dean of Students and provides leadership to Student Health Services, along with the Counseling Center for Wellness by establishing strategic direction consistent with the University’s mission and goals.
The Director of Student Health & Counseling Services serves within the Student Affairs Unit to provide leadership in the administration of key service and educational functions related to student physical care and wellness that are grounded in Neumann’s Catholic traditions and Franciscan values. This position provides primary care, in partnership with the contracted physician and other University health partners, for student health concerns including appointment scheduling and follow-up care; serves as primary point of contact with the university’s third-party telehealth vendor (powered by TimelyMD) for matters related to student physical and medical health; administers medications, vaccinations, and treatments as outlined in Physician's Standing Orders; orients and supervises independent (contracted) health care professionals as well as students completing clinical rotations or work study within the Student Health Center; manages the medical records software platform; reviews required immunization documentation and other student health documentation as established by the University in compliance with applicable laws. Ensure that all students have updated vaccine documentation on file with the university; maintains appropriate student health records including reviewing and processing the medical records of incoming students; maintain current stock of medications and medical supplies; provides emergency response and consultation as needed; serves as a liaison with the community, health care professionals, and local agencies in offering services, making effective referrals, and coordinating health care resources. Maintain current knowledge of campus and community resources for referrals for students; ensures maintenance of confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA, University policy, and relevant laws in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; assists in completion of annual report, monthly assessment/data reports, and yearly immunization compliance report, as assigned by Dean of Students; provides education and consultation on student related issues that are consistent with the mission and values of Neumann University; consults on policy and procedures concerning student health issues as needed or requested by the Dean of Students; serves on University committees, as designated, especially those concerned with health and safety issues including, but not limited to the CARE Team; maintains current and timely level of expertise through ongoing training and professional development; maintains current licensure on-file at all times with the Dean of Students; manages department website and internal Neumann portal page; supports the administration of grants in Student Affairs that promote student care and wellness efforts.
The Director of Student Health & Counseling Services provides leadership and supports clinical staff, as well as assures the continuous development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. It is a minimum of 40 hours per week. Expected to extend hours when necessary and may be adjusted to meet the needs of the university. This position is a 12-month assignment which includes serving in an emergency response capacity as needed. This is an in-person, on-campus position.
Qualifications include: Nurse Practitioner; registered Nurse required or a comparable medical degree and experience with licensure; active license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; certified in Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association; previous experience in a health care setting including college or university health services; excellent counseling, interpersonal, and administrative skills; knowledge of developmental issues of both traditional and non-traditional students, commuter students, and resident student populations; interpersonal and presentation skills are a necessity; must be proficient in maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues, external partners, university administration, students, and staff; knowledge of and congruence with the Catholic Franciscan character of the University.
