Machinist/Tool and Die Maker

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and experience in fabricating and assembling precision tools and dies. This role requires proficiency in using hand tools, CAD software, and programming equipment for the production of high-quality components. The Tool and Die Maker will play a crucial role in ensuring that our manufacturing processes run smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair tools, dies, and fixtures for production processes.
• Operate stamping presses and other machinery to produce parts according to specifications.
• Utilize CAD software to design and modify tool components as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Employ mathematical skills to calculate dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements.
• Work with plastics injection molding techniques to create precise molds.
• Use lathes and other hand tools to shape materials accurately.
• Collaborate with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot issues and improve processes.
• Builds and repairs machine shop tools using machining operations and measuring instruments.

· Works from blueprints and sketches to create or modify tools, dies, jigs and molds.

· Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures.

· Must have own tools

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, lathes, stamping presses, and CAD software.
• Familiarity with programming machinery for automated processes is a plus.
• Solid math skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
• Experience with plastics injection molding is desirable but not mandatory.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

· Must be able to use and hold close tolerance's on all tool and die equipment Must be a team player

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

· Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

· Must prioritize tasks

· Must handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously

· Must prioritize, organize and delegate assignments where applicable

Physical Requirements

· Must be able to lift 75 lbs.

· Must be able to stand for at least 8 hrs. per day

Mental Requirements

· Must have trouble shooting skills

· Must be able to do simple addition and subtraction

· Must be able to read blue prints

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

· Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Equipment Used

· Calipers, micrometers, tape measure, end mill, lathe, power tools, grinder, welder, and drill press.

Work Schedule

· M-F 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour

• Electrical discharge machining: 5 years (Preferred)
• CNC: 5 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Journeyman License (Preferred)
