What are the responsibilities and job description for the Functional Consultant/Architect Oracle Field Service (OFS) position at NetVision Resources Inc?
Functional Consultant/Architect Oracle Field Service (OFS)
Role Summary
We are hiring a Functional Consultant/Architect to lead the functional design and solution architecture for an Oracle Field Service (OFS) implementation. This role owns the translation of current-state field service processes into Oracle Field Service Cloud configuration and architecture, with direct accountability for a clean, low-risk transition off a legacy field service platform (e.g., IFS/Astea) onto OFS.
Engagement type: Contract, minimum 6 months (with potential extension based on project phase and performance).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead functional design workshops with dispatch, field operations, and parts/logistics stakeholders to document current-state processes on the legacy platform (IFS/Astea or equivalent) and translate them into Oracle Field Service Cloud requirements.
- Architect the OFS solution: routing and scheduling rules, skills/geo-based assignment, mobile configuration, activity/work order lifecycle, and the integration points to adjacent Oracle Cloud modules (ERP, SCM, CPQ) and third-party systems (master data, CRM, warranty).
- Own the functional mapping from the legacy platform's object model (work orders, checklists, forms, workflows) to OFS equivalents, flagging any gaps that require custom configuration versus out-of-the-box capability.
- Partner with the technical/integration team to define interface specifications (source, target, trigger, direction) for data flowing between OFS and ERP/SCM/CRM systems.
- Lead or support legacy data migration planning - open/active service orders, assets, warranties, technician/skills records, and checklists - ensuring a safe cutover with no data loss on business-critical records.
- Advise on scope trade-offs between current-state parity, net-new capability, and project budget/timeline, grounded in direct experience of what a legacy-to-OFS transition actually requires versus what can be deferred.
- Support testing (SIT/UAT), cutover planning, and hypercare, with specific attention to parity validation against the legacy platform's known behavior.
- Act as the functional point of contact for the client's business stakeholders throughout design, build, and deployment.
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of enterprise consulting/implementation experience, with at least 3 years specifically on Oracle Field Service (OFS) Cloud as a functional consultant or solution architect.
- Direct, hands-on experience on a project that migrated field service operations FROM IFS (or IFS Astea) TO Oracle Field Service - not just OFS greenfield implementations. Must be able to speak to specific parity gaps, workarounds, and lessons learned from that kind of transition.
- Prior experience working within the manufacturing industry (industrial equipment, consumer products, or similar), specifically supporting field service, equipment/asset servicing, or parts logistics functions.
- Demonstrated ability to configure OFS core capabilities: routing/dispatch rules, skills- and geo-based assignment, activity and work order management, mobile configuration, and SLA/entitlement rules.
- Experience designing and documenting integrations between OFS and Oracle Fusion ERP/SCM (or equivalent ERP), including order-to-cash and purchasing/parts flows.
- Strong functional requirements-gathering and stakeholder-facilitation skills; comfortable running workshops directly with dispatch, field operations, and finance/CX stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Willingness to travel to client sites as needed for workshops, go-live, and hypercare support.
