Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced QA Technician to join our food manufacturing team in Richmond, CA. This role is responsible for performing laboratory testing, monitoring food safety and quality systems, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties:
- Perform microbiological, physical, chemical, and organoleptic testing
- Following QC Hold Procedures for out-of-specified products.
- Sample, plate, test, record, and interpret laboratory results
- Investigate and troubleshoot out-of-specification results
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and data entry
- Calibrate laboratory equipment
- Monitor HACCP CCP records and quality documentation
- Support GMP, food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance
- Assist with customer complaint investigations
- Manage product specifications
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain laboratory inventory and supplies
- Work closely with production and quality teams
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree (Food Science, Biology, Microbiology or related science) and minimum 2 years experience or an addition 4 years (min 6 years) if no degree.
- HACCP certified required, SQF Practitioner preferred.
- Knowledge of Microbiological, Physical, Chemical and Organoleptic Testing.
- Ensure policies, procedures, and workplace safety are adhered to.
- Evaluate trends from test results and develop plans to correct deficiencies and communicate these plans to employees, and management.
- Implement quality control processes/testing to meet the expectations of quality standards and ensure that the product(s) are within specification.
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Utilize and maintain inventory on laboratory and sanitation supplies.
- Good oral/written communication skills.
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
- Proficient in window-based PC programs.
- Lab Test Equipment/Maintenance.
- Must follow current Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Sanitation Practices, Food Safety and Occupational Safety.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
