Please note this is a temporary role based onsite in Chicago, IL.


The Job

The QA Tester is responsible for designing and executing test plans, identifying defects, validating fixes, and collaborating closely with engineering, production, and management teams to ensure requirements are met before release. By proactively preventing defects, improving system stability, and safeguarding content delivery and user experience, QA supports the business’s strategic goals of efficiency, customer satisfaction, and brand trust.


The Daily

  • Bug Reporting: Find and report bugs in code, assets and tools.  Research and properly update and assign bugs written by other members of the development team. Identify development resources needed to fix bugs. Track bugs to closure. Escalate issues as appropriate, and identify issues that are not following the proper track within the database.
  • Build Assessments: Smoke test code and critical assets prior to release to the rest of the development team.  Make determinations based on discovered issues regarding whether or not a given set of code and assets should be released to the rest of the development team.
  • Team Support: Support the Lead in their daily responsibilities as requested. Analyze departmental challenges being encountered by team members due to process or tools and develop creative solutions and workarounds. Identify causes for potential quality loss or scheduling delay and escalate as needed.


The Essentials

  • The ability to accurately troubleshoot and identify software and hardware problems and describe the issue to others in a clear and concise manner
  • Pays close attention to detail
  • Knowledge of video games across multiple game consoles (Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony) or PC
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate complex and/or detailed information clearly
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time under tight deadlines


The Nice to Haves

  • Experience having shipped multiple game titles on any platform in a development organization desired
  • Knowledge of basic testing concepts including: Test Case usage, Bug writing, Regression testing, and Ad hoc testing
  • Knowledge of one or more bug tracking databases, including but not limited to: JIRA, Devtrack, Bugzilla, Basecamp, Test Track Pro, or equivalents
  • Knowledge of mobile hardware and mobile software across iOS, Android, and Amazon devices

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $35,360 - $51,376.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
