Access Control Systems Technician

Job Description

• Responsible for the implementation, administration and maintenance of physical security systems and programs.
• Responsible for performing initial technical problem solving or trouble-shooting and/or testing of security systems on both client and server side issues for large geographically distributed systems.
• Manage the system health of access control and video surveillance platforms.
• Assist with system up-grades and system projects.
• Complete projects involving security systems, hardware, building systems and technology as assigned. Ensure that status reports are regularly submitted to department management and that targeted completion dates are met.
• Serve as an expert for physical security systems and technologies. Stay abreast of, and recommend, new security technologies for implementation based on objectives and business needs.
• Be responsible for frontline support and maintenance of physical security systems and applications, and serve as a subject matter expert on physical security systems.
• Manage/configure/debug specialized endpoints such as card readers, surveillance cameras, biometric equipment, wireless devices. Automate patch application, hotfixes, and custom functionality using scripts and packaging tools.
• Work on the rollout of new systems and remediation of existing systems while coordinating with project managers, physical security team members, system administrators and database engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Success in this position requires the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently, proficiency with a wide array of systems and applications, the ability to be analytical and decisive while understanding the impact decisions have to a customer and to the corporation.
• Hands on experience with Physical Security systems including access control and video surveillance
• Understanding of electric circuits and wiring in low voltage applications.
• Strong PC skills with Microsoft Office suite of products-MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.
• Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be flexible and able to quickly adapt to changes and prioritize tasks/responsibilities.
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule as required.
• Must have excellent customer facing skills.

Job Requirements

• Four to six year’s experience with Physical Security Systems (access control, video surveillance) or related experience.
• Experience implementing, configuring and integrating 3rd-party software solutions.
• Experience with Milestone Video Management a plus.
• Strong customer service, organizational, prioritization, multitasking, communication, and leadership skills.
• Strong working knowledge and experience with electronics, PCs, networks, communications devices, door & locking hardware, alarm devices, CCTV technology and software with emphasis on card access systems.
• Virginia DCJS Certifications desired
• Ability to exercise good judgment under pressure and critical conditions.
• Support experience with various operating systems a plus.

Pay: $25.00 - $55.00 per hour
