Position Overview
The Product Quality Support Engineer will support quality assurance activities related to aerospace product development and manufacturing. This role will work cross-functionally with engineering, production, quality, supply chain, and other teams to resolve quality issues, perform root-cause analysis, ensure compliance with applicable standards, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and apply blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, specifications, and standards.
- Ensure regulatory, procedural, and contractual requirements are met during product development and introduction.
- Develop inspection criteria for in-process and final inspection of components and assemblies.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, supply chain, and receiving inspection teams to resolve non-conformances.
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections of electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical components.
- Review and approve drawings and work instructions as required.
- Perform mechanical measurements using scales, calipers, gauges, and similar inspection tools.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize quality data; prepare reports and pivot tables.
- Establish and execute project quality plans, witness points, and quality records for New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Drive continuous improvement in quality processes and execution.
- Identify quality trends and root causes, analyze findings, and communicate recommended solutions.
- Ensure lessons learned are incorporated into new proposals and programs.
- Witness and audit hardware and software development processes against established plans and procedures.
- Provide regular weekly and monthly updates to the Client Manager.
- Collaborate with larger teams working at client locations.
- Train personnel and lead quality initiatives as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience working in the aerospace industry.
- Hands-on experience inspecting electronic, mechanical, and/or electromechanical components and assemblies.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, customer relationship, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to provide technical assistance and direction to other personnel.
- Experience with aerospace quality standards:
- AS9100
- AS9102
- AS9145 / APQP
- Experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action methodologies.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
- Experience reviewing or generating First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with AS9102.
- Quality Inspector / Quality Auditor experience is a plus.
