An Oracle EBS Inventory and Manufacturing Functional Consultant is responsible for implementing, configuring, supporting, and optimizing Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Supply Chain modules, particularly Inventory and Manufacturing-related processes. The consultant works closely with business users, production teams, warehouse personnel, and technical teams to ensure efficient ERP operations.
Job Summary
The Oracle EBS Inventory and Manufacturing Functional Consultant analyzes business requirements, designs Oracle EBS solutions, configures Inventory and Manufacturing modules, supports testing and deployment activities, and provides post-implementation support. The role focuses on streamlining inventory management, production planning, work-in-process operations, costing, and supply chain processes.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Requirements & Analysis
- Gather and analyze business requirements from manufacturing and supply chain stakeholders.
- Conduct fit-gap analysis between business processes and Oracle EBS functionality.
- Prepare functional design documents and solution specifications.
- Recommend process improvements and best practices.
Oracle EBS Configuration
Configure and support modules such as:
- Oracle E-Business Suite Inventory
- Oracle E-Business Suite Bills of Material
- Oracle E-Business Suite Work in Process
- Oracle E-Business Suite Cost Management
- Oracle E-Business Suite Engineering
- Oracle E-Business Suite Quality
- Oracle E-Business Suite Purchasing
- Oracle E-Business Suite Order Management
Manufacturing Process Support
- Define and maintain Bills of Material (BOM).
- Configure routings and resources.
- Set up Work Orders and Work in Process (WIP) transactions.
- Support discrete manufacturing processes.
- Manage production reporting and shop floor transactions.
- Assist in capacity planning and production scheduling.
Inventory Management
- Configure inventory organizations and sub-inventories.
- Set up item masters and item attributes.
- Define locators, serial control, and lot control.
- Support inventory transactions and cycle counting.
- Manage inventory reconciliation and stock accuracy.
Testing & Deployment
- Prepare test scenarios and test scripts.
- Conduct Unit Testing, SIT, and UAT.
- Support migration activities and production deployments.
- Validate data conversion and interfaces.
User Support
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 application support.
- Troubleshoot functional issues and coordinate with technical teams.
- Conduct user training sessions.
- Create SOPs and user documentation.
Required Skills
Functional Skills
- Strong knowledge of Oracle EBS Manufacturing modules.
- Expertise in Inventory, BOM, WIP, Costing, and Purchasing integration.
- Understanding of manufacturing business processes.
- Knowledge of supply chain and warehouse operations.
- Experience with MRP and production planning concepts.
Technical Awareness
- Ability to read SQL queries.
- Understanding of Oracle database concepts.
- Knowledge of interfaces, conversions, and reporting.
- Familiarity with XML Publisher and Oracle Reports is advantageous.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Oracle EBS SCM certifications are preferred.
- 3–10 years of Oracle EBS Functional consulting experience (depending on role level).
Preferred Experience
- End-to-end Oracle EBS implementation projects.
- Rollout, upgrade, or support projects.
- Experience in manufacturing industries such as automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals, FMCG, or industrial manufacturing.
- Experience with inventory costing methods and production accounting.
