Title: Laboratory Technician (Entry Level)
Duration: 06 months Contract
Location: Millsboro, DE 19966
Shift: Stretch of 4 days | 10-hour shifts
Position Summary
The Laboratory Technician supports critical laboratory procedures involved in the production of veterinary products. This entry-level role is responsible for performing cell culture and aseptic manufacturing activities throughout the production cycle while strictly adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and safety guidelines. The position requires hands-on laboratory work in an aseptic/cleanroom environment and close collaboration with department supervision.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform laboratory procedures including aseptic operations, media preparation, antigen inoculation and harvest, tissue culture preparation and harvest, and vaccine filling
• Execute cell culture processes using a variety of technical laboratory equipment throughout the manufacturing cycle
• Maintain accurate, complete, and reliable documentation including charts, logbooks, and all required GMP records
• Communicate unusual, non-routine, or out-of-specification events to supervision in a timely manner
• Clean work areas and prepare, clean, and sterilize glassware and equipment for laboratory use
• Set up, operate, and monitor laboratory and manufacturing equipment
• Follow all GMP requirements, SOPs, safety standards, and company policies at all times
• Work with embryonic eggs utilized for virus propagation as part of manufacturing processes
• Handle hazardous materials including isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, phenolic disinfectants, and oxidizers in accordance with safety protocols
• Perform other duties as assigned by department supervision
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• GMP experience required
• Some laboratory-based scientific experience preferred
• Cell culturing experience strongly preferred
• Experience working in an aseptic or cleanroom environment
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment including pH meters, UniFuge, and component measurement tools
• Ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs and aseptic behavior requirements
• Prior SAP experience preferred
• Vaccine-related knowledge preferred
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to pass a physical abilities test prior to starting onsite
