Work Schedule

Position Overview
We are seeking an entry-level Fermentation Technician to support operations within a pilot-scale fermentation and chemical production laboratory. This role is ideal for recent graduates and candidates with up to five years of relevant experience who possess a strong scientific background and an interest in bioprocessing and laboratory operations.
Approximately 80–90% of the role involves hands-on laboratory work, with the remainder dedicated to documentation and operational support. This position supports laboratory and production operations and is not a Scientist-level research role.
Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, preferably in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Organic Chemistry, Physics and related scientific disciplines
Experience:
- Recent graduates and candidates with up to five years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
- Prior laboratory experience is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with sterile laboratory techniques and fermentation operations.
- Experience using hand tools and performing basic equipment maintenance.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Support and oversee fermenter operations including sterilization, inoculation, cell growth and feeding, harvesting, cleaning, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Perform fermenter sampling and routine process monitoring.
- Apply sterile techniques for inoculating and sampling shake flasks.
- Operate autoclaves and safely handle acid/base mixing systems.
- Conduct off-line sample analyses using laboratory instruments including viscometers, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and pH meters.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Investigate deviations from expected results and contribute to technical reports.
- Manage laboratory supplies and inventory.
- Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and conduct routine repairs.
- Replace valves and other components on bioreactors.
- Utilize basic hand tools to support equipment reliability and upkeep.
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma projects.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to support workload and project goals.
Work Environment
- Hands-on laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals, plants, nuts, and latex.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment and safety procedures are required.
- Position requires standing, moving materials, and performing routine equipment maintenance.
