Job Title Editor/Writer II
Location Los Angeles, CA

Responsibilities:

• The editor/writer II performs general media relations duties with an emphasis on writing and editing press releases, pitch letters, feature stories, faculty expert profiles and bylined articles on a variety of topics for Keck Medicine of USC and the Keck School of Medicine.
• Ability to understand medical research and translate to consumer language, while following protocols for research/science press release writing that involve grants and outside associations or other entities.
• Additional media relations responsibilities may include preparing weekly media placement recap report and distribution of press releases.
• Provide general media relations back-up support for press conferences, symposiums, crisis issues or other events as situations arise.
• Continuously improving the patient and family experience through personalized care and service.

• Demonstrating understanding and empathy with both the joys and pains of others.

• Working with others within our teams and across disciplines toward a shared goal.
• Limiting conversations about patient care to work areas and patient rooms, and avoiding patient care conversations in public areas such as elevators and waiting rooms.
• Knocking before entering a patient care room, keeping patient information confidential, and providing private rooms for discussion between health care professionals and family members.
• Making sure my badge is worn visibly over the heart at all times.
• Checking visitors' badges and escorting visitors to their destinations.
• Noticing safety risks and take appropriate actions to reduce the risk of harm.

Qualification:

• 3 years experience minimum, 5 years preferred.
• Mastery of AP Stylebook writing guides.
• Minimum Experience with writing, editing, proofreading, and the preparation of materials for publication.
• Preferred Experience writing and editing of materials closely related to health system activities.
• Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
