Job Title: Azure IoT Architect – Edge, Containers & Kubernetes

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid – Day 1 Onsite)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Azure IoT Architect with deep expertise in Industrial IoT, Edge Computing, and Containerized Platforms to design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient IoT solutions for large-scale oil & gas environments.

The role focuses on edge-to-cloud architecture, Azure IoT services, Kubernetes at the edge, and AI/ML-driven industrial analytics, supporting mission-critical operations at client.


Key Responsibilities

🔹 Edge Computing & IoT Architecture

  • Design and architect Azure-based Industrial IoT solutions across edge, on-prem, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Implement Azure Arc–enabled Kubernetes clusters for managing edge workloads.
  • Architect containerized edge platforms using k3s, Docker, and virtualization technologies.
  • Integrate IoT solutions with enterprise systems and cloud-native services.


🔹 Azure IoT & Industrial Protocols

  • Design and manage Azure IoT (AIO) solutions including:
  • Device provisioning
  • Telemetry ingestion
  • Cloud-to-device messaging
  • Work with industrial communication protocols such as:
  • MQTT
  • OPC UA
  • CoAP
  • DDS
  • Evaluate and integrate IoT orchestration and commercial edge platforms.


🔹 AI/ML at the Edge

  • Design and deploy AI/ML models at the edge for:
  • Anomaly detection
  • Predictive maintenance
  • Industrial analytics
  • Support computer vision and real-time inference workloads in constrained edge environments.


🔹 Security, Compliance & Governance

  • Implement Zero Trust Architecture, RBAC, secure boot, and device identity management.
  • Ensure compliance with industrial and regulatory standards, including:
  • NIST SP 800-82
  • ISA/IEC 62443
  • NERC-CIP
  • Design secure APIs, manage vulnerabilities, enable audit logging, and support compliance audits.
  • Participate in risk assessments, threat modeling, and regulatory adherence activities.


🔹 Platform & Automation

  • Work across Linux-based edge platforms (Ubuntu preferred).
  • Use scripting and automation tools for deployment and management:
  • Python
  • Ansible
  • Azure CLI
  • Linux shell scripting
  • Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams for CI/CD and lifecycle management.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 12 years of overall IT experience with strong focus on IoT, Edge Computing, or Industrial Systems
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Azure IoT services
  • Azure Arc
  • Kubernetes (especially edge variants like k3s)
  • Docker and containerization
  • Experience with hybrid cloud and edge orchestration
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages:
  • Python, C/C , Java, Go, Rust, React
  • Strong knowledge of industrial security and compliance frameworks
  • Experience working in Oil & Gas or heavy industrial environments (mandatory)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience evaluating and onboarding commercial IoT/edge platforms
  • Exposure to computer vision or advanced industrial analytics
  • Prior work in refinery, upstream, midstream, or downstream operations
  • Azure certifications related to IoT, architecture, or cloud security
