What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician - Telecommunications position at NESSCO - Telecoms System Integration (TSI)?
The Field Service Technician will report directly to the Technical Services Manager but may periodically be assigned to projects where the role reports to a Project Manager.
Role
The Field Technician position involves installing, maintaining, repairing, and supporting voice and data systems, PAGA systems, Radio systems, Access Control and CCTV systems, and other telecommunications systems at customer sites.
This role must also be able to provide midlevel system installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance on Nessco products and services overseas, onshore, and offshore as appropriate.
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for performing customer support activities, which involve the service, installation, and troubleshoot/repair of voice and data systems, PAGA systems, Radio systems, ACS systems, cabling such as coaxial and fiber option cable and other telecommunications systems.
- Installation, commissioning and maintenance of all telecommunication systems, including configuration, test, and fault finding of Auxiliary power, DC, and Battery systems.
- Assembly and installation of a variety of Telecommunications equipment, including but not limited to, equipment cabinets and racks, network equipment, wireless equipment, junction boxes, cameras, speakers, beacons, radios and antennas systems.
- Assist with the problem-solving of technical issues with equipment in the field or within the company facilities.
- Be the liaison with clients, and other departments within Nessco.
- Provide assistance to other Field Technicians as required.
- Follow all safety requirements implemented by employer, customers, facility owners, or vendors involved in the employee’s daily tasks, including but not limited to, ISN/PEC, H2S, Water Egress, Lock Out/Tag Out, First Aid/CPR, Lifting, Fall Protection, Climbing Techniques and etc.
- Ownership of the field work throughout completion which includes Time Sheets, Inventory Documentation, and Field Tickets Provide technical support and resources to ensure delivery of service.
- Finish the required paperwork accurately and acquire proper approvals from job site location management
Qualifications & Experience
Education
· High School Diploma
· Technical Degree from a University or a Technical school.
Experience
· 3-5 years experience within the Telecommunications Industry
Key Competencies
- Must be available 5 days a week 10 hours a day with possibility of Saturday and Sunday work as well.
- Experience in radio frequency communications systems, security systems and computer networking systems.
- Experience in usage of a variety of hand tools and test equipment.
- Able to create and manipulate Microsoft Excel and MS Word documents.
- Must be a well-organized person with the ability to work with minimal direction with good communication skills (written and verbal).
- Valid state driver's license required; good driving record.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card and Passport.
- Capable of lifting 75 lbs. and climb structures on land and offshore and installing communication and antenna systems.
- Willing to work overtime and on scheduled days off as needed and up to 100% of time spent traveling when on call.
- Able to pass a OGUK physical and D&A screening.
