Director of Housekeeping/Laundry

Job Summary:
The Director of Housekeeping and Laundry is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital’s housekeeping and laundry departments. This role includes supervising and scheduling staff, working alongside team members as needed, managing departmental purchasing and budgets, and ensuring all areas meet hospital standards for cleanliness, safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Directly supervise housekeeping and laundry staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
• Create and manage staff schedules to ensure proper coverage and efficient operations
• Work alongside staff in housekeeping and laundry functions as needed to support daily operations
• Oversee departmental purchasing, supplies, inventory, and budget management
• Ensure compliance with all hospital regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection control, and safety throughout the facility
• Monitor productivity, efficiency, and time management of staff
• Address operational issues promptly and implement improvements as needed
• Serve as a liaison between housekeeping, laundry, and other hospital/LTC departments

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent required
• Willingness to learn and actively work in housekeeping and laundry alongside staff
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
• Ability to lead by example and work in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform housekeeping and laundry duties as needed
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
