What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychologist position at Neshaminy School District?
The Neshaminy School District is seeking to hire a School Psychologist. The School Psychologist reports directly to the Supervisor of Pupil Services is assigned to Pupil Services and based on the needs of students. The School Psychologist identifies, assesses, and supports the learning, developmental, behavioral, and adjustment needs of individual students and groups through assessment, consultation, intervention planning, and counseling. As part of the multidisciplinary team process, the School Psychologist conducts appropriate, educationally relevant assessments of student learning and behavioral needs within required timelines and provides diagnostic information and recommendations to assist in determining eligibility, classification, and educational need for special education and related services under Chapters 14, 15, and 16 of the Pennsylvania Code and applicable eligibility categories.

- Conduct fair, unbiased evaluations and re-evaluations that consider each student’s cultural, socioeconomic, disability-related, and individual needs.
- Interpret assessment results, integrate multiple data sources, and develop recommendations for instruction, eligibility, placement, and programming.
- Serve as a member of interdisciplinary, eligibility, placement, intervention, and IEP teams for students with academic, behavioral, social-emotional, or disability-related needs.
- Consult with parents, teachers, school staff, and community agencies to support student learning, behavior, adjustment, and access to services.
- Help school teams plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate interventions, instructional strategies, and behavioral supports, such as Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and the Student Assistance Program (SAP).
- Identify learning environment factors that may affect student performance and recommend ways to address them.
- Provide individual or group counseling to support students with emotional, social, or behavioral needs.
- Provide information, consultation, and training to staff and families on child development, learning, behavior, and psychological principles.
- Interpret policies, procedures, and programs related to school psychological services.
- Engage in professional learning to strengthen practice and meet student needs.
Qualifications include:
- PA certification in School Psychology
- Master's Degree in School Psychology (M.A., M.S., M.Ed.), Doctoral degree preferred
- Graduate level training in tests and measurements; special education
- Experience in a public school system in Pennsylvania strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of school psychology theory, child development, substance abuse education, tests and measurements, and crisis management.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and interact professionally with teachers, administrators, parents, students, support staff, coworkers, and outside professional contacts.
- Applicants must be in good standing with Act 48 credits.
Salary and benefits are consistent with the NFT collective bargaining agreement, which can be found on the Neshaminy.org website under Human Resources.
Neshaminy School District requires a valid Child Abuse Clearance, FBI clearance, PA State Police Criminal Check, and completed Act 168 forms for all employees before they may begin work.
