We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Electrical Testing Technician to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. This role involves performing high-voltage testing, circuit breaker maintenance, and ensuring compliance with industry safety standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with electrical testing equipment and a strong understanding of power systems and protective devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Primary Injection Testing (Megger)
Operate high-current test equipment to simulate fault conditions and verify the performance of protective devices such as circuit breakers and relays. Ensure proper tripping under fault scenarios to maintain system reliability.
- Ductor Testing (Contact Resistance)
Measure resistance across electrical contacts (e.g., breakers, busbars, switches) to detect wear, corrosion, or poor connections. Ensure low resistance for efficient current flow and prevent overheating.
- Circuit Breaker Maintenance
Inspect, test, clean, and repair various types of circuit breakers (vacuum, SF6, oil-filled). Perform timing tests, insulation resistance checks, and verify trip mechanisms to ensure operational integrity.
- Safety & Compliance Procedures
Follow strict safety protocols including lockout/tagout (LOTO), grounding procedures, and equipment schematics. Ensure all work complies with NFPA 70B, NETA standards, and site-specific safety regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or technical certification in electrical systems (Associate’s or higher preferred).
- 2 years of experience in electrical testing or maintenance.
- Familiarity with Megger and other high-voltage testing equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and manuals.
- Experience with power delivery systems and related equipment (e.g., transformers, switchgear, relays) is a strong plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
