What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at nerostechnologies?
Who we are
Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and obsessed with closing the gap between design and deployment.
As drones transform the character of warfare, Neros is delivering the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield and deter the adversaries of democracy. We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.
What you will be doing
As an Electrical Engineer at Neros, you will be a key hands-on member of our engineering team, supporting the design, development, and testing of our innovative components and systems. This role is perfect for a recent graduate or early-career engineer who is eager to learn and grow. You will work directly with senior engineers, assisting in all phases of the product development lifecycle, from initial design and prototyping to final verification and validation.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers in the design of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), including schematic capture and component selection.
- Support the PCB layout process and participate in the bring-up and functional testing of new hardware.
- Build and test prototypes and breadboard circuits to validate design concepts.
- Perform hands-on lab work using standard equipment including but not limited to oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, logic analyzers and network analyzers.
- Execute verification and validation (V&V) test plans, setting up tests and documenting results.
- Contribute to root cause analysis investigations under the guidance of senior team members.
- Utilize and develop skills in ECAD software (Altium) for schematic and layout tasks.
You should have the following
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in a hardware or electrical engineering role (internship experience is a plus).
- Proficiency with standard lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).
- Hands-on skills in soldering and wiring for prototypes and rework.
- Familiarity with at least one ECAD software package (e.g., Altium, Mentor, KiCad) is highly desirable.
- A strong desire to learn, a coachable attitude, and excellent problem-solving skills.
Nice to have
- Altium
- Experience with embedded systems, particularly with STM microcontrollers or other ARM Cortex-M based platforms.
- Academic or project experience with RF concepts, including wireless protocols like LoRa.
- Familiarity with simulation software such as SPICE, or MATLAB.
- Experience writing scripts for test automation or data analysis in Python.
- Knowledge of standard communication protocols like SPI, I2C, and UART.
- Exposure to circuits for handling analog video (NTSC/PAL) or digital video (MIPI, HDMI).
- Basic C/C programming skills for firmware loading and board-level testing.
