Position Overview
Nerospec Group is seeking experienced and safety-focused Auto Electricians to support operations at Kennecott Underground Copper. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge mining safety systems and advanced OEM equipment in a dynamic underground mining environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting abilities, mining equipment experience, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, commission, and maintain Nerospec collision avoidance and safety systems on underground and surface mining equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and CAN-bus systems
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and system testing
- Read and interpret electrical wiring schematics and OEM documentation
- Complete detailed service reports and fault documentation accurately and on schedule
- Ensure all work complies with MSHA regulations, OEM standards, and site safety requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and uptime
- Collaborate effectively with site personnel, operators, and technical teams
Minimum Qualifications
- Trade certification or technical qualification in Electrical Technology, Automotive Electrical Systems, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Auto Electrician in the mining industry
- Experience working on underground and/or surface mining equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills on electrical and electronic systems
- Experience reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work safely in underground mining conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with collision avoidance or collision detection systems
- Experience with hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with OEM mining equipment and telemetry systems
- CAN-bus diagnostic experience
