We are seeking a motivated and clinically strong Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our inpatient nephrology team. This position focuses on hospital rounding, inpatient nephrology consultations, and dialysis management while working alongside an experienced team of nephrologists.

Responsibilities
- Perform daily inpatient rounding on nephrology patients
- Evaluate and manage patients with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, electrolyte disorders, hypertension, and dialysis-related complications
- Provide clinical coverage in hospital-based and/or outpatient dialysis units, as assigned
- Assess dialysis patients before, during, and after treatments
- Manage dialysis-related issues including volume status, access concerns, blood pressure management, and lab abnormalities
- Collaborate with nephrologists, dialysis nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize dialysis care
- Write and manage dialysis-related orders, including medication adjustments and treatment parameters
- Review dialysis adequacy, laboratory results, and trends
- Obtain histories, perform physical exams, and document findings in the EMR
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, hospitalists, specialists, patients, and families
- Participate in care coordination and discharge planning
- Provide patient education related to kidney disease and dialysis modalities
Qualifications - Required
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Current PA-C or NP licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in Virginia
- Current national certification
- Minimum of two years of inpatient Acute Care and/or Critical Care experience
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment while collaborating closely with supervising physicians

This position involves travel between dialysis clinics, hospitals, and possibly medical offices in the Hampton Roads region. Candidates must be able to work independently. Mileage reimbursement is provided.

Pay: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
