What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant (Elizabethtown) position at Nephrology Associates of Kentuckiana?
We are looking for a motivated individual that has a desire for excellent patient care. Applicant should be independent and have strong organizational skills.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepare equipment, examination rooms and assist physicians throughout the patient visit
- Taking and recording vital signs, height and weight, collect and record urine sample
- Reconcile patient’s medication lists, ensure most recent mail order and local pharmacy recorded in chart
- Maintain patient medical records, charts prepared 48 hours prior to each clinic, patients called two clinical days prior to appointment
- Take lab order calls, critical lab order calls, record in patient’s chart, notify physician, per POD assignment daily
- Travel per practice needs (2-3 times per week or as needed)
- Willingness to adapt to changes in the workplace
- Available and flexible to work normal operation hours, including late clinics as needed
- Maintain safe environment for patients, team members and physicians
- Stocking exam rooms and maintaining cleanliness
- Completing a urinalysis
- Daily urine controls
- Check-in/check-out procedures
- Print and prepare daily schedules
- Maintain clean and neat waiting room on a daily basis
- Answer phones and delegate accordingly
- Check-in/check-out procedures
- Reappoint patients, schedule new patient referrals, etc.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be willing to travel weekly to satellite clinics
- Previous medical assistant experience preferred
- General computer skills
- Previous knowledge or experience with Epic preferred
