Senior Network Engineer

Purpose:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing our network infrastructure to ensure smooth and efficient operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify network requirements, propose solutions, and implement best practices to meet business objectives. This role is based out of Pittsburgh, PA. The individual will primarily work out of our home office and remotely, but some travel within the US will be required.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other networking devices.

• Configure and troubleshoot network devices and protocols, such as TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and QoS.

• Monitor network performance, analyze network traffic, and optimize network resources to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability.

• Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate network infrastructure with systems, applications, and services.

• Implement security measures to protect the network against cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and unauthorized access.

• Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansions to support business growth and technological advancements.

• Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, helpdesk staff, and other IT teams to resolve network-related issues and inquiries.

• Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to maintain an up-to-date knowledge base.

• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in networking to propose innovative solutions and improvements.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Information Technology, etc. or equivalent industry certification and experience.
• 5 years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies.
• Hands-on experience with network equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.
• Proficiency in network design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP, etc.) are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of broadcasting software and technologies, including automation systems, playout servers, scheduling software, and content management systems (CMS).
• Knowledge of broadcast standards, protocols, and regulatory requirements (e.g., SMPTE 2110, ATSC, FCC) is a plus.
• Familiarity with database management systems and distributed computing environments – we currently use MySQL, RabbitMQ and Kubernetes – is a plus.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
