What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Internship, 26/27 School Year position at Neosho SD?
Neosho School District, in partnership with Crowder College, is seeking motivated students for a hands-on Operations Internship program. Interns will work alongside experienced district staff to develop practical skills, build professional habits, and gain exposure to career pathways in facilities management and operations.
Internship Tracks
Interns will be placed in one of the following tracks based on their program of study and interest:
- HVAC – Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system maintenance including filter changes, refrigerant checks, thermostat calibration, and seasonal procedures.
- Automotive Technician – Preventive maintenance and minor repairs on district fleet vehicles including buses, trucks, and utility vehicles.
- Carpentry – Structural repairs, door and hardware installation, cabinetry, ceiling tile replacement, and general building maintenance projects.
- Technology – District technology infrastructure support including workstation setup, network cabling, device imaging, AV equipment, access control, and help desk operations.
General Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople and technicians with daily tasks, projects, and preventive maintenance
- Follow all district safety protocols, including proper use of PPE
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment appropriate to the assigned track under direct supervision
- Document work performed through the district's work order management system
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
- Communicate professionally with district staff, building administrators, and vendors
- Complete all required Crowder College internship documentation and reporting
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a relevant program at Crowder College (plumbing, HVAC, automotive, construction/carpentry, or information technology)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in varied environments
- Reliable transportation to assigned district sites
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn
- Must pass a background check per district policy
