Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period. Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KY LPE under KRS 322 until licensure is obtained. For additional information refer to: http://kyboels.ky.gov/.Performs engineering tasks in managing/overseeing/reporting on highway program and Local Public Agency (LPA) program activities by monitoring/reviewing projects, funding requests, and Local Public Agency (LPA) memorandum of agreements (MOA) for compliance with state/federal regulations pertaining to eligibility and financial resources, and preparing state and federal funding programming documents for authorization of project funding. Reviews and interprets construction plans, drawings, specifications, procurement procedures, bid documents, regulations, and policies for contractors, local officials and department personnel for the monitoring and determination of eligibility and compliance with state and federal regulations for expenditures of state and federal highway program funding, along with monitoring project schedules, project status reports, project financial reports, and LPA memorandum of agreements. Performs engineering tasks in reviewing and interpreting project information, cost estimates, funding requests, and entry of project data and funding data into the Oracle Six-Year Highway Plan (SYP) Precon Status Systems, Project Authorization System (PAS), federal PR-1 data system, state and federal funding requests tracking system, and the LPA program project status tracking system.Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites.
