Fire Protection Design Engineer

Our client, a well-established and highly respected consulting engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to join their team. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects — from large-scale commercial and institutional builds to smaller, specialized developments — while providing expert technical leadership in plumbing and fire protection design.

About the Role:

This opportunity is designed for an experienced engineer ready to take on complex and high-impact projects with minimal oversight. The position offers significant autonomy and the chance to play a key role in both team delivery and organizational success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design of plumbing and fire protection systems, including:

  • Domestic water systems

  • Sanitary drainage and vent systems

  • Storm drainage systems

  • Pumping and natural gas distribution systems

  • Special systems such as clean agent (gaseous) suppression

• Perform system selections, develop preliminary designs, and prepare performance specifications

• Conduct feasibility studies, sustainability assessments, and due diligence for existing facilities

• Produce and revise technical documentation using AutoCAD and Revit

• Ensure all designs meet local, state, and client-specific code requirements and standards

• Collaborate closely with clients and project stakeholders to deliver innovative and cost-effective design solutions

What We're Looking For:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (PE license preferred)

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in plumbing and fire protection system design

  • Strong understanding of plumbing system applications, building codes, and drafting standards

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit

  • Ability to interpret construction documents and contribute meaningfully to the construction process
