What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Technologist position at NemoursCareerSite?
The Research Technologist (part-time, 20 hours/week) will work under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager/Principal Investigator. Performs some assignments independently as discussed and approved by PI and/or senior laboratory staff. Sets up and performs routine and established lab procedures in support of laboratory goals, grant commitments, i.e., assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc. Monitors results, reports unusual outcomes/errors, and suggests modifications. Collects, enters, and summarizes data. Assists in the maintenance of lab equipment and monitors supplies. Performs basic safety functions in the lab, including testing of equipment. Performs basic data analysis; prepares tables/charts/graphs and assists in organizing data. Participates in research laboratory meetings. May be required to perform experiments during certain weekend days or after hours.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Carry out simple laboratory tests/cultures and research experiments.
Gather measurements and records data under close supervision.
Performs lab processes, protocols and functions independently as assigned.
Support research operations by cleaning and maintaining equipment. Understands and is knowledgeable of Nemours safety policies, procedures and performs basic safety functions.
- Understand and demonstrates safe use and operation of lab equipment
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in science related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2 years significant laboratory experience preferred
