What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Nurse Extern-NICU position at Nemours?
Nemours is seeking 2026 Nursing Graduates to join our NICU Team in the Student Nurse Extern (SNE) role. This position is casual part time, working full-time through the summer and a minimum of one shift every two weeks during the school year. The SNE role is responsible for assisting with general unit workflow and performing patient care activities under the direction and guidance of a Registered Nurse. Ideal candidates should have a passion for NICU nursing, as this position enhances preparation for the NICU Nurse Residency Program upon graduation. As Delaware's only Level IV NICU, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware provides care for the most critically ill infants. Our patients require a full spectrum of complex medical and surgical management, including the state's only neonatal extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) center. The NICU currently provides care for up to 32 patients in our state of the art, single-patient room unit. The NICU also provides delivery room resuscitation support for the Advanced Delivery Unit, a specialized program enhancing care for neonates with known congenital anomalies. Requirements :
- Entering senior year (2026 grad year) of a BSN nursing program
- Minimum GPA of 3.2
- BLS certification with the American Heart Association
