Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our shipping and receiving processes. The Shipping Clerk will work closely with various departments to facilitate timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Processing Shipments: Prepare and process outgoing orders, including packaging goods securely and affixing proper labels and documentation such as invoices, bills of lading, and shipping manifests
Inventory Management: Track and manage inventory, update records for incoming and outgoing shipments, and monitor stockroom organization
Logistics Coordination: Schedule and coordinate pickups with carriers, communicate shipment details to delivery teams, and track deliveries to ensure timely arrival
Receiving Shipments: Verify incoming goods against purchase orders, inspect for damages or discrepancies, and maintain accurate receiving records
Problem Solving: Troubleshoot issues such as damaged shipments, delayed deliveries, or incorrect orders, and coordinate resolutions with internal teams or vendors
Physical Handling: Operate forklifts or pallet jacks, lift heavy packages (up to 50–70 lbs), and ensure safe handling of goods
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate logs, generate shipping reports, and ensure compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and environmental management systems
Support Team Operations: Assist co-workers in shipment preparation, warehouse organization, and general clerical tasks as needed
Qualifications and Skills
Education: High school diploma or GED; additional coursework or an associate’s degree in logistics or supply chain management is a plus
Experience:
1 - 3 years of experience in a warehouse, shipping, or logistics environment is commonly preferred
Technical Skills: Familiarity with shipping software, inventory management systems (Jobboss2), Microsoft Office (Excel, Gmail, WMS)
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, lift and move heavy items, and operate material-handling equipment safely
Soft Skills: Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, customer service orientation, communication skills, and problem-solving capabilities are essential
Certifications (Optional but Preferred): Forklift certification, shipping carrier-specific training (FedEx, UPS)
