Maintenance Assistant – Full-time, Monday through Friday, with some on-call requirements

Come join our growing team at Nemasket Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. For those who are motivated and enjoy working in a caring environment, we have a full-time opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant.

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for all aspects of building and grounds maintenance.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS - Education / Experience

  • Preferably a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position assignment.
  • Working Conditions: Works in an appropriately lighted and ventilated environment subject to temperature changes. Works outside in various weather conditions. May work in small/confined areas.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day, proper body mechanics required - bending, stooping, turning, stretching, and reaching above the shoulders are involved. Stands, walks, stoops, kneels, bends, and climbs both inside and outside the building.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics/equipment that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • May be required to carry and/or handle loads of 50 lbs. or more.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

1. Observes proper safety and sanitary techniques.

2. Understands and upholds responsibilities concerning infection control, safety, accident, and fire prevention.

3. Utilizes knowledge of and skills in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, and general repairs.

4. Understands and upholds the Resident's Bill of Rights and holds all resident information confidential.

5. Follow and comply with all State and Federal regulations as well as established Personnel Policies and Procedures.

6. Maintain all pertinent records in a timely, efficient, and confidential manner.

7. Project a professional image always.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Ensures proper cleanliness and general good order of the grounds and the building by following established shift routines.

2. Requests additional supplies as necessary.

3. Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment according to established schedules as directed.

4. Assists with monthly fire drills generator tests and service of fire alarm and sprinkler systems.

5. Conducts daily preventive maintenance in assigned areas.

6. Performs other related duties and attends meetings as may be deemed necessary by Supervisor / Administrator and or Director.
