Nelson Mullins is seeking a Junior Corporate Associate to join its Communications, Internet, Technology & Privacy group in the Washington, DC office. As an AmLaw100 firm, this will offer a unique opportunity to a lateral associate who wants to be part of a dynamic and growing team. 

A Day in the Life

Located along Constitution Avenue just across from the U.S. Capitol, the Washington office is staffed with individuals with years of experience at the forefront of political, business, litigation, regulatory, and diplomatic developments.

Understanding how government works and how it impacts the clients of Nelson Mullins is a key service that the Washington office provides. Nelson Mullins represents national and global clients with needs closely tied to the Administration, Congress, regulatory agencies, and the capital’s international organizations. Washington office corporate attorneys have transactional experience ranging from banking and securities regulation, including investment company and broker/dealer issues, to commercial real estate and affordable housing. Washington office litigation attorneys often represent clients in matters of federal agency law and telecommunications.

We Know You

You have one to three years of meaningful experience in communications law and data privacy law with a background that includes experience advising on communications and consumer protection/privacy regulatory matters, as well as exposure to transactional, litigation, and/or enforcement matters. Experience working on matters involving emerging technologies, digital platforms, broadband, telecommunications, advertising and/or data-driven products and services is highly desirable; while also demonstrating a strong interest in communications and technology issues, including evolving regulatory frameworks. Excellent writing, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills are required. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are essential. Experience with federal and state privacy laws, children’s privacy laws, the GDPR, and related data protection regimes is preferred, and familiarity with regulatory compliance programs, investigations, and government enforcement is a plus. An IAPP certification (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT) is also a plus. Admission to the District of Columbia Bar, or eligibility and willingness to obtain admission, is required.

At Nelson Mullins, we are dedicated to transparent and fair compensation practices. Pay for this position is determined by factors such as experience, skills, and location. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for performance bonuses and benefits such as healthcare, retirement plans, and paid time off.  

• The salary/wage range in Washington, DC is $185,000 - $205,000 annually

Salary : $185,000 - $205,000
