Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team to support the development and production of electro-mechanical HMI products, including rubber keypads, enclosures, keypad membranes, PCB and flex circuits, etc. This individual will be responsible for researching, designing, developing, and testing from prototype to production hardware, translating customer requirements into robust, production-ready solutions and ensuring smooth transitions from prototype through full-rate production. This individual will also be involved in collaborating with design teams, developing tooling and fixtures, supporting production, test, and quality groups, and troubleshooting issues that arise during pilot builds and full production.

Required Experience & Skills
Pay Range: $70k - $90k (Pay to be determined by the experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data)

Key Responsibilities
- Design and refine mechanical assemblies and components that meet functional, performance, and manufacturability requirements for HMI and electro-mechanical products.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to create and update 3D and 2D CAD models and drawings that reflect customer and production needs.
- Apply sound design principles and familiarity with ASME Y14.5 to develop high-quality drawings, bills of materials, and engineering change/work orders for new and existing products.
- Produce specifications for products and choose materials and components appropriate to achieve performance, durability, and cost targets.
- Build models and prototypes of the product and test the design; alter and modify design to meet various customer requirements.
- Prepare product reports and documentation, communicate with customers and internal departments; deliver design proposals or project updates effectively.
- Organize and maintain documentation for designs and modifications.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Required Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or an equivalent degree.
- Minimum three (3) years working in the mechanical product engineering field.
- Proven experience using 3D and 2D CAD programs (Autodesk Inventor and/or AutoCAD are preferred).
- Ability to work in team-oriented environments and communicate technical knowledge clearly and effectively.
- Ability to run simulations and analyze test data.
- Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Analytical mind, with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in high-mix, low volume electro-mechanical manufacturing.
- Design and test experience in Aerospace and Defense. (e.g. MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, etc.)
- Experience in material selection for environmental and electromagnetic performance.
- Experience in injection molding design.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator and/or Corel programs.
- Familiarity with mechanical switches, rubber design, and membrane design.
- Experience in analyzing data from tests and simulations to refine designs.
- 3D printing experience.
- Due to ITAR and / or CUI compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C.1324b(a)(3).
