Assistant Cafeteria Manager - NMS/NCHS

SUMMARY

To serve students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness

PURPOSE

Assist the School Nutrition Manager by performing some managerial tasks and by taking charge in absence of manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides leadership to subordinate through instruction and demonstration.

1. Directs day to day activities in absence of Manager.

1. Accurately completes all required records, reports, and inventories.

1. Assists in preparation in food and facility maintenance.

1. Inspects on a continuing basis all areas within cafeteria and report evaluation to Manager.

1. Complies with state sanitation regulations and local policies.

1. Assumes any responsibilities designated by the Food Service Director and/or Manager as necessary.

ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE

1. High School diploma or equivalent

1. Knowledge of breakfast and lunch patterns including offer vs. serve; free and reduced meal programs; collection procedures; operation of all equipment; and sanitation requirements.

1. Ability to accurately complete all required records and reports.

1. Ability to communicate positively with school staff, students, parents and visitors, as well as School Nutrition Service employees.

1. Certified in Food Safety.
   

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed indoors and in a standing position with exposure to frequent noise and heat.  Some occasional lifting to 50 pounds is required.

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Support Staff Personnel.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Ten Month  - 184 days - 1288 Hours - Grade 8 (High School Assistants)

Salary and work year to be established by the Board

Salary : $18 - $26
