You are a detail-oriented Tax Accountant to support multi-state tax compliance and reporting activities. This contract role focuses primarily on State and Local Tax (SALT), including sales and use tax compliance, property tax reporting, and regulatory filings across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience preparing and filing multi-state sales and use tax returns, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with SAP and accounting systems.

This position pays: $40.00 to $48.00 per hour

What You Will Be Doing

• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual multi-state sales and use tax returns.
• Prepare all supporting workpapers for sales and use tax filings and ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Review and verify sales and use tax workpapers and filing processes to identify and resolve potential compliance issues.
• Research and apply multi-state sales and use tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
• Prepare property tax filings and coordinate property tax payments for multiple jurisdictions, including California, Texas, North Carolina, and Washington.
• Organize, maintain, and validate resale and exemption certificates.
• Assist with corporate income tax returns, tax extensions, and quarterly estimated tax payments as needed.
• Support withholding tax filings and ensure timely submission of required tax forms.
• Compile vendor information and prepare annual Form 1099 filings.
• Prepare and file federal and state census reports, Department of Commerce reports, annual reports, license renewals, and other regulatory filings.
• Research tax-related issues and support compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Assist with additional accounting and tax-related projects as assigned.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of corporate tax or accounting experience with a strong emphasis on State and Local Tax (SALT).
• Hands-on experience preparing and filing multi-state sales and use tax returns from start to finish, including supporting workpapers.
• Strong understanding of multi-state sales and use tax concepts, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with property tax reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
• Familiarity with corporate income tax support, tax provisions, or related compliance activities is a plus.
• SAP experience highly preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced corporate environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
