Accounting Lead (CONTRACT)You are an Accounting Lead supporting a growing, service-based organization that is scaling through acquisitions. This role is hands-on, onsite, and highly autonomous, partnering closely with the Controller to stabilize, streamline, and ultimately own the accounting function for multiple locations during a period of growth and systems transition.This position pays: $45-55/hour depending on experienceLocation: Fremont, CA (fully onsite)What you will be doing:Serve as the primary accounting support to the Controller, acting as a true right hand and backupManage full-cycle accounting operations across multiple locationsHandle high-volume Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable (50–75 invoices daily)Process billing, invoicing, collections, and cash applicationSupport and progressively take ownership of month-end closeCompile and review financials for leadershipPerform gross margin analysis within a service-based revenue modelSupport payroll processes and understand labor impact on marginsWork within complex revenue streams including equipment sales, preventative maintenance, installations, and service contractsTrack and manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) from sale through installationSupport job costing and contract billingAssist with accounting consolidation under a single operating entityNavigate and support a live ERP transition (Sage to NetSuite)Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controlsOperate independently with minimal training in a fast-moving environmentCollaborate cross-functionally with operations while remaining accounting-focusedWhat you bring:5 years of progressive, hands-on accounting experienceStrong end-to-end knowledge of AP, AR, billing, payroll, GL, and collectionsExperience supporting or owning month-end close and financial reportingUnderstanding of gross margin analysis in a service or project-based environmentExperience with WIP, job costing, or long-cycle installations strongly preferredComfort working in lean teams and wearing multiple hatsERP experience with Sage, NetSuite, and/or QuickBooksAbility to hit the ground running with little to no ramp-up timeStrong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize in a high-volume settingCollaborative, team-oriented mindset with a flexible approachFor over 50 years, Nelson Connects has empowered employers and job seekers to achieve their unique versions of success.
