Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks such as front loader trucks, rear loader trucks, roll-off trucks, dump trucks, tractor-trailers, and flatbeds to load and transport waste materials.
- Load and unload debris efficiently using mechanical equipment like front-end loaders or manual methods while ensuring safety standards are met.
- Follow all traffic laws, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and state transportation regulations during route driving and delivery tasks.
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and mechanical equipment to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Adhere strictly to hazardous materials regulations when handling special waste or materials requiring special precautions.
- Maintain accurate logs of routes driven, loads transported, and disposal activities in compliance with safety protocols.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with clients during pickups and drop-offs while addressing any questions or concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures including air brake operation, hazard communication, and outdoor work safety standards.
- Load and secure waste materials properly to prevent spillage or accidents during transit.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating commercial trucks such as front loader trucks, rear loader trucks, roll-off trucks, dump trucks, or flatbeds is highly preferred.
- Solid knowledge of heavy lifting techniques and mechanical systems related to garbage trucks and other commercial vehicles.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred.
- Familiarity with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, traffic laws, and state transportation rules governing commercial vehicle operation.
- Demonstrated understanding of solid waste management practices and municipal waste regulations.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely for extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to safety protocol adherence including hazard handling procedures and air brake operation.
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude when interacting with clients.
- Experience with route driving for delivery or waste collection services is advantageous.
- Mechanical knowledge related to garbage trucks or similar heavy-duty vehicles is a plus.
