QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified on employees medical examination form to be fully qualified in health for the position by a licensed physician.
- High School graduation including courses in English, Mathematics and computer
- Demonstrated competency in tasks assigned.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: Work with principal, teachers, parents/guardians/guardians and students to promote productive student behavior and student engagement in classroom activities
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with teachers, parents/guardians and students to promote productive student behavior and student engagement in classroom activities
- Collect data for functional behavior assessments
- De-escalate students in crisis situations, assist in physical restraint if necessary
- Document when students are removed from class to de-escalate
- Collaborate with special education teachers and general education teachers in implementation of students’ behavior plans
- Check in with students throughout the day to monitor progress and reinforce positive choices
- Work with special education teachers to plan and schedule needed breaks for students throughout the day
- Organize student behavior goal data in collaboration with the special education teachers
- Distribute student behavior cards to classroom teachers and collects the cards weekly
- Communicate daily with teachers and aides regarding student behavior (positive behavior as well as when students needed assistance in de-escalating)
- Proactively work with students to teach appropriate social skills and positively reinforces students for displaying appropriate social skills in the school setting
- Supervise students as needed throughout the day (arrival, cafeteria, playground, dismissal)
- Supervising special education bus routes before and after school when necessary
- Maintain a high standard of ethics in all professional relationships.
- Demonstrate a willingness to improve on the job.
- Attend applicable training and professional development.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten month year. Salary established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated per contract language.
