Position Summary: The Grill Cook is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality grilled and short-order food items to golf course patrons in a timely, friendly, and sanitary manner. This position plays a key role in ensuring guests have a positive dining experience by consistently delivering fresh, well-prepared food and maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen environment.
Grill Cook Duties and Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook menu items such as burgers, sandwiches, breakfast items, and various specials on a flat-top grill
- Follow standard recipes and portion controls to ensure consistent food quality and cost control.
- Ensure food is cooked to proper temperatures and plated appropriately.
- Prepare condiments, sides, and accompaniments as needed.
Customer Service
- Interact with golfers and guests in a friendly, courteous manner at the grill counter or food window.
- Take customer orders accurately and confirm any custom requests or allergies.
- Inform customers about specials, promotions, or wait times when applicable.
Sanitation & Safety
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including grill, prep stations, and storage areas.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines (including proper food handling, labeling, and storage).
- Clean grill, kitchen equipment, and utensils after each use and at end of day.
- Dispose of garbage and recycling per facility procedures.
Inventory & Stocking
- Monitor stock levels of food, condiments, and supplies.
- Communicate low inventory or restocking needs to supervisor.
- Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries.
Team Collaboration
- Coordinate with clubhouse staff and beverage cart attendants to fulfill food orders efficiently.
- Support event catering or golf tournaments with grilled food as needed.
- Help train seasonal staff on grill operations if applicable.
- Other duties as assigned
Grill Cook Skills and Specifications:
- Ability to operate and maintain kitchen and club house equipment
- Understanding of safe work practices and proper use of chemicals
- Attention to detail and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Grill Cook Education and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum one year of experience in a grill cook or line cook position; experience in golf course or clubhouse setting is a plus.
- Ability to operate grill equipment and kitchen tools safely and efficiently.
- Strong time management and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of food safety regulations and practices (ServSafe certification a plus).
Grill Cook Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of Grill Cook, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Grill Cook Work Environment:
While performing the duties of Grill Cook, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work involves exposure to hot surfaces and sharp utensils. Weekend, evening, and holiday availability required.
