Role Description
We are seeking a full-time Medical Doctor for an on-site role in Cincinnati, OH.
Our patients don’t come in with neat charts and easy answers.
- Sometimes it’s untreated diabetes.
- Sometimes it’s withdrawal.
- Sometimes… it’s someone who hasn’t heard their name spoken with care in a long time.

As a Medical Doctor (MD/DO) in our organization, you won’t just treat symptoms. You will meet people at their most vulnerable and help them take the next step forward.
You will:
- Provide comprehensive family medicine services within the Cincinnati Health Network Health Care for the Homeless (HCH) Program, including preventive, acute, and chronic disease management services for underserved and homeless populations.
- Participate in teaching, mentoring, and precepting physicians, advanced practice providers, residents, students, and other clinicians in a variety of clinical settings throughout the program.
- Serve as an active member of the Medical/Administrative Team and provide clinical supervision and guidance to medical, nursing, behavioral health, and ancillary staff.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support integrated primary care, behavioral health, substance use treatment, and care coordination services.
- Participate in Quality Improvement, Risk Management, and Patient Centered Medical Home initiatives by following clinical policies and procedures, utilizing standing orders, meaningfully using the electronic medical record, and practicing within the medical home model of care.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical workflows, protocols, and best practices to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Demonstrate leadership in fostering a positive, collaborative, and patient-centered clinical culture.
- Create and maintain effective working relationships with support staff, faculty physicians, providers, patients, board members, community agencies, and the general public.
- Maintain active privileges within the HCH Program and affiliated local hospitals.
- Participate in on-call coverage, committee work, strategic planning, and other organizational initiatives as assigned.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assume additional responsibilities as the needs of the program evolve.
- Position offers the opportunity for progressive leadership responsibilities, including potential future roles in provider supervision, program oversight, quality management, service line development, and other clinical or administrative leadership functions.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine; board certification preferred.
- Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio, or ability to obtain licensure prior to employment.
- Current DEA registration and ability to obtain and maintain hospital privileges.
- Minimum of three to five years of clinical experience in family medicine, community health, federally qualified health centers, homeless services, or other underserved settings preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to the Health Care for the Homeless service delivery model and the mission of serving vulnerable and underserved populations.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or precepting clinical staff, students, residents, or advanced practice providers preferred.
- Interest in and aptitude for assuming increasing leadership and management responsibilities over time.
- Proven ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment and collaborate with a diverse array of professionals, agencies, and community partners.
- Working knowledge of quality Improvement, patient-centered medical homes, population health, and performance improvement concepts.
- Supportive of integrated primary care, behavioral health, substance use treatment, and trauma-informed care.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, substance use disorders, HIV, and other complex social and medical needs strongly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and relate respectfully to persons of all cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity, compassion, and commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records and other healthcare technology systems.
