Job Description
Neighborhood Schoolhouse is adding a full-time Program Director positon to join our early childhood team in the 2026-2027 year. This full-time position involves ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education, for all children within the school’s care. The Program Director reports to the Executive Director.
Job Requirements
- Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and effective learning climate consistent with the philosophy of the Neighborhood Schoolhouse, and the NAEYC Code of Ethics, NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practice, NAEYC Professional Standards and Competencies, NAEYC Position Statements on Linguistic and Cultural Diversity and the Vermont Early Learning Standards;
- Work with individual students on behavior management, supporting students in moments where added support around behaviors is needed and coordinate behavior management plans;
- Oversee the after school care program;
- Facilitate effective communication between staff, parents, and the board of directors, including written communications and meeting with parents individually as necessary;
- Manage staff schedules including the daily break schedule, meetings, and paid time off;
- Regularly submit attendance and invoices for CCFAP and UPK;
- Maintain student records in accordance with established enrollment procedures and guidelines.
- Oversee the building and grounds committee, routinely check safety and plan maintenance of building and grounds, oversee repairs and maintenance;
Qualifications
As stated in the VT Childcare Licensing Regulations, a program director shall be qualified as a teacher associate, and shall have completed either:
- A Vermont Early Childhood and Afterschool Program Director Step One (1) Certificate; or
- Successful completion of a three (3) college credit course in program management for early care and education or for school age care and education, or in staff supervision related to early care and education of children; and a three (3) college credit course in curriculum.
