Job Description: Assistant Teacher

Position Summary

The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing instruction, care, and God-honoring guidance for children in the classroom. This role assists with implementing lessons, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, and building positive relationships with families. The Assistant Teacher helps foster a joyful, organized, and faith-based learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Support

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing lesson plans and classroom routines. • Provide nurturing care during meals, rest, and transitions. • Support children’s developmental, social, and spiritual growth through active engagement.

Family Engagement

• Communicate with families in partnership with the Lead Teacher. • Provide updates and assist in building trusting family relationships. • Uphold a God-honoring witness when interacting with families.

Teamwork & Collaboration

• Work under the direction of the Lead Teacher to ensure classroom consistency. • Collaborate with other staff to maintain an excellent program. • Participate in training and meetings as required.

Compliance & Safety

• Maintain compliance with licensing and program policies. • Follow safety and sanitation protocols daily. • Report concerns promptly to the Lead Teacher or Director.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; CDA or degree in Early Childhood Education preferred. • Florida DCF 45-hour training required (or willingness to obtain). • Experience working with young children in a childcare or faith-based setting preferred. • Commitment to God-honoring values and faith-based education. • Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team.
