POSITION SUMMARY
The Data Analyst plays a critical role in advancing data-informed decision-making across Neighborhood House by transforming program and organizational data into meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making, continuous improvement, and organizational learning. This position leads quantitative data analysis, reporting, dashboard development, and data quality initiatives while serving as the primary administrator of the ClientTrack database.
Reporting to the Director of Community-Based Evaluation and Impact, the Data Analyst partners closely with staff and leaders across the organization to understand data needs, develop thoughtful analyses, and strengthen reporting systems that improve services, operations, and organizational effectiveness. The position is responsible for producing timely, actionable analyses, proactively identifying trends and opportunities for deeper exploration, and ensuring that data systems support both operational excellence and strategic learning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Analysis and Reporting
• Analyze quantitative program and organizational data to identify trends, patterns, disparities, and opportunities for improvement, proactively exploring findings beyond initial reporting requests when appropriate
• Develop recurring and ad hoc reports that support program management, strategic planning, grant reporting, and executive decision-making
• Design and maintain interactive dashboards and data visualizations for staff, leadership, and external stakeholders
• Translate complex data into clear, actionable findings for audiences with varying levels of data literacy
• Collaborate with the Director of Community-Based Evaluation and Impact to develop meaningful performance indicators and reporting frameworks
Data Systems and Administration
• Serve as the primary administrator of the ClientTrack database, including user management, system configuration, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance
• Optimize ClientTrack workflows to improve data collection, reporting efficiency, and user experience
• Coordinate system updates, enhancements, and integrations with internal and external data systems
• Lead the implementation and administration of new data collection tools and reporting processes, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external vendors while ensuring alignment with organizational priorities
Data Quality and Governance
• Independently lead and maintain the organization’s day-to-day data quality and governance practices, exercising judgment in establishing standards, resolving issues, and implementing corrective actions, subject to general direction from the Director.
• Exercise independent judgment in selecting analytical methodologies, designing reports and dashboards, configuring data systems, interpreting findings, and recommending data-informed improvements to organizational leaders.
• Serve as a subject-matter advisor to organizational leadership on data quality, reporting methodology, system functionality, performance measurement, and emerging reporting or compliance risks.
• Establish, implement, and monitor data quality standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness, and reliability across programs
• Conduct regular data audits, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to improve data integrity
• Serve as the primary organizational authority and point of contact for day-to-day data quality and governance matters, providing guidance and resolving issues within established policies and procedures
• Develop and maintain documentation for data definitions, reporting methodologies, and standard operating procedures
• Monitor compliance with organizational data policies and funder reporting requirements, escalating issues that may present material compliance, reporting, privacy, or organizational risk
Training and Technical Support
• Provide technical support and guidance to ClientTrack users across the organization
• Develop and facilitate training on data systems, reporting tools, and data quality best practices
• Strengthen organizational data literacy by equipping staff to interpret and effectively use reports, dashboards, and other data resources
• Stay current on emerging practices in data analytics, visualization, database management, and nonprofit reporting
Organizational Collaboration
• Partner with program teams to understand reporting needs and develop practical data solutions
• Provide quantitative data expertise for program evaluation, ensuring that data are collected, managed, and reported accurately
• Contribute to organizational reporting initiatives, including grant reports, annual impact reports, board reports, strategic planning, and external communications
• Collaborate with external partners, funders, and peer organizations on shared reporting and data initiatives as appropriate

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least three years of progressively responsible experience in quantitative data analysis, reporting, data visualization, database administration, or a related function, including independent responsibility for complex analyses or reporting systems
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis functions
• Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
• Experience administering databases or case management systems (ClientTrack preferred; Salesforce, HMIS, Apricot, or similar systems acceptable)
• Ability to move beyond responding to data requests by proactively exploring trends, identifying opportunities for deeper analysis, and anticipating stakeholder questions
• Ability to communicate complex data clearly through reports, dashboards, and presentations
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and justice
Desired Qualifications
• Experience working in nonprofit, human services, education, public health, or community-based organizations
• Familiarity with government or foundation reporting requirements
• Experience working with relational databases and SQL
• Experience automating reports or improving reporting workflows
• Experience supporting program evaluation or performance measurement
• Experience providing training or technical assistance related to data systems or reporting
WORK LOCATION
This in-person role is based in St. Paul, MN and an office setting with frequent interaction at various Neighborhood House sites and occasional off-site meetings or events. Local travel between locations is required; reliable transportation is necessary (mileage reimbursement available).
The schedule is typically Monday-Friday work hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for organization-wide events or other special activities.
