ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE:
Neighborhood Healthcare is excited to offer a full-time externship opportunity for Medical Assistant students currently enrolled in a medical assistant program with one of our partnership schools. This experience is designed to give you hands-on exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of a Medical Assistant in a community healthcare setting. This externship is an excellent opportunity to apply the skills you’ve learned in the classroom while supporting real patients under the guidance of experienced healthcare professionals.
*You must be currently enrolled in a medical assistant program to be considered.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am - 5 pm..
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Externs will primarily support back office tasks, such as:
- Rooming patients
- Taking vital signs
- Administering injections (as applicable)
- Assisting with procedures
- Updating electronic health records (EHR)
- Supporting patient care coordination with the clinical team
Please note: This externship is focused on clinical (back office) experience and does not include front office duties.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently enrolled in the Medical Assistant program at one of our partnership schools.
- Available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM for the full externship
- Professional, dependable, and eager to learn in a clinical setting
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
